About Wild Weald Camping

Tucked into quiet pastures and ancient woodland on a working farm near Hailsham, Wild Weald Camping offers families a genuine chance to unplug and reconnect. Every pitch comes with a map for exploring the surrounding countryside on foot, and the site's private woodland features a Forager's Treasure Hunt that children love. There's a fishing pond for an extra charge, firepits for hire, and logs for sale—perfect for evening barbecues around the flames.

Half an hour's drive opens up Eastbourne's Victorian seafront and the dramatic chalk cliffs of Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters, while closer to home you'll find Drusillas Park and a clutch of adventure parks for rainy-day entertainment. The site itself can feel a touch basic in places—facilities are functional rather than luxurious—but that suits the wild-camping ethos. Two dogs are welcome on leads, making this a solid choice for families seeking something quieter than the usual commercial pitch.

Very laid back campsite that is perfect for people that want something peaceful and close to nature. We went as a family of 3 and would say Wyld Wood would also suit couples and smaller groups. We camped in our own tent, pitched right amongst the trees, which led to some stunning scenes at sunrise and sunset. There is no vehicle access to pitches/yurts, so be prepared to use wheel barrows to get your gear from the car park to where it needs to be; 2-4 minutes tops, up a slight hill, depending on where your pitch is. We didn't mind this at all, so just a warning for anyone with mobility concerns. Thank you Hugo, see you next time!

Amazing almost wild campsite in super lush forest. Fires allowed and owner is really chill. Didn't stay in a yurt but they look really cosy. Will defo visit again!

I recently stayed at a fantastic campsite that exceeded my expectations. The facilities were incredibly well-maintained, offering everything from clean restrooms to convenient shower areas. It was clear that the management takes pride in providing a comfortable experience for campers. One of the highlights was the nice private areas available for setting up tents. Each site felt secluded, allowing for a peaceful atmosphere where you could truly relax and enjoy nature. The layout of the campsite ensured that even when it was busy, it never felt overcrowded. Overall, I highly recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a blend of great amenities and a tranquil environment. It’s the perfect spot for families, friends, or solo adventurers looking to escape into the great outdoors!

We are a group of 6 dads and one son of 20 years old who like to get together once a year and game (D&D). We have been to many sites over the years and the setup has been ok but not private. We visited Wyld Wood Campsite for the first time in 2023 and realised we had stumbled across an absolute gem. For us, the privacy of the pitches together with the space available, the comfort factor of the beds (we are not getting any younger), the facilities of the cooking stations, warm showers, clean toilets, and the overall setting of the woodland could not have been any better. I don't really want to write this review as I didn't want to draw attention to this amazing find but I would be doing Hugo and his site a total injustice if I didn't! We are heading back this year for our third visit and I am sure many more. You do have to lug your gear up hill in a wheel barrow but this all adds to the private and secluded nature of the site.
