About Earth Camp
Tucked into the rural East Sussex hinterland just a mile from peaceful Chailey village, family-run Earth Camp delivers a genuinely sustainable camping experience with direct access to gorgeous bluebell woodland. The site's eco credentials are impressive – composting toilets, showers and washing-up facilities are crafted almost entirely from reclaimed wood – while borrowed games (badminton, croquet, table tennis, Kubb) keep families entertained. Kids can safely explore the trees on-site, or venture further via footpaths to Chailey Common Nature Reserve or Newick's trio of pubs, just 20 minutes' walk away.
Saturday evenings bring wood-fired pizzas, weekend mornings an artisan coffee van, and you can book on-site massages, reiki or Saturday sound baths for total woodland relaxation. Campfires and barbecues are encouraged, with kindling available. Brighton and the coast lie half an hour's drive south, but with wildlife-packed surroundings and such a peaceful atmosphere, you may find it hard to leave. The facilities, while perfectly functional, can feel fairly basic in places.

What visitors say
Beautiful location with trees around the field, Rachel and Will are v friendly and welcoming and cannot do enough to help you. We stayed in a bell tent and Rachel lent us blankets as it was cold at night. The food wagon was v good and was v popular. The showers were warm and great after a hiking the S Downs Way. When we stayed at the end of June the campsite was full (150 people) and there were some noisy kids until 1 am and adults till 2 am nearby. There was no electricity in the bell tent for charging your phones and 1 bar phone signal in 1 place. What I couldn’t cope with were the toilets which had a bad design and got blocked immediately under the seats and were rank. Otherwise it was a lovely campsite run by v good people.

We absolutely adored our stay at Earthcamp we found a spot under trees. It's so chilled out and relaxing. There's a real family vibe and the owners couldn't be more friendly and helpful. My 7yr old Sons Highlight was the Rope swing and being able to have a fire. We would definitely recommend joining in the Yoga session and had a massage to completely feel at peace. It absolutely chucked it down with rain on our 2nd night but the Pizza truck visited and we stuffed our faces in the tent. Would definitely go back again for more fun and there's more therapies to try. 🥰

Beautiful, peaceful and perfect for families! My daughter loved the swings and exploring the faerie Woods. The facilities were clean and practical and there was lots of space so the campsite didn’t feel too crowded. We especially loved the Coffee and the lovely welcoming owners Will and Rachel. Looking forward to returning next year

My two friends and I had a wonderful 3 day stay at Earth Camp. Will was extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the additional touches such as laminated maps with directions to the pub, fire pits to borrow for free and we enjoyed making use of the coffee van at the weekend, pizza on Saturday night, the sauna and yoga. The site felt overcrowded on our last night as a large group pitched their tents directly in front of our obscuring our beautiful view. The showers were great and the compost loos were kept in immaculate condition. Overall it was a wonderful stay.
