Welford sits on one of England's old coaching routes, and a walk into the village brings you to a pub, a shop, and access to the Welford Arm canal. From Pitchers Barn itself, countryside walks start at the gate. The property occupies the outskirts of Welford as a converted cattle barn, over 200 years old, now finished to a high standard with contemporary comforts alongside rustic character.
The ground floor is open-plan, combining living, dining and kitchen in one flowing space. A log burner warms the room; patio doors lead onto a private terrace where the real appeal lies—a two-person wood-fired hot tub faces out across the reservoir, and a brick barbecue is built in for al fresco meals as light fades. The kitchen is compact but fully equipped for self-catering, with electric cooking, dishwasher and a coffee machine. A wet room with shower completes the ground floor. Steep stairs climb to a galleried mezzanine bedroom with a double bed tucked beneath the eaves.
Bed linen, towels and wi-fi are provided, along with initial fuel for the log burner. The property uses an air source heat pump with underfloor heating. Off-street parking is available for two cars. No smoking is permitted. CCTV cameras cover the exterior.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow! When my husband asked what I'd like to do for my 40th birthday and I said "stay in a lodge by water, with a hot tub", I never thought we would stay somewhere so magical only an hour from home. Owl's Rest was incredible, so cosy, everything you could possibly need was there. The hot tub and sauna added to the relaxation in such a wonderful way, relaxing with nothing but bird song around us. We were mesmerised by the reservoir, which could be seen from so many locations in the lodge. Sitting on the decking under blankets on the sun loungers in the evening while a little robin bravely visited us was so special. Leaving our worries at the main gate and switching off from the day-to-day was just what we needed. We both agreed we will be back, and I've recommended to so many friends and family already. Thank you so much for having us!

Would highly recommend Sulby Reservoir Retreats. Beautiful location and log cabins. Sylvia, Ian and Tim went above and beyond and looked after my bike which arrived before I did. Will definitely be back again in the near future. Thank you!
