What visitors say
This past weekend I experienced the most romantic weekend of my life. We stayed in ‘Marabou’ - an absolutely stunning luxury glamping lodge. Marabou is a two story delight! A fabulously designed space created by someone who clearly loves what they do. Taking inspiration from the film ‘Out of Africa’, the decor and overall ambience was warm, quirky, inviting, and fun. With carefully curated vintage finds and up-cycled treasures. From the stunning bathroom, the incredible 4 poster bed in the master bedroom, to the gorgeous kitchen and beautiful deck. Just delicious! Highly recommend booking a stay at Brook Meadow for camping or glamping. But, if you get a chance to book into Marabou, you will create precious, unforgettable memories.

A romantic escape we didn’t want to leave! If you’re after a romantic stay this is the place! Once you are settled your immersed in to what feels like something out of a story book. It feels like a step back in time as well as a different continent. The whole experience is furnished and quilted with luxury from bed linens to fluffy towels, comfy sofa and a deck to watch the world go by. Claire the owner and curator popped down to show us around and invited us for a walk to show us her woodland venue too which was a really nice touch. All the staff were lovely. We stayed Friday -Sunday and even though the rest of the site was busy the area that Marabu is set up in perfectly peaceful. I would imagine a mid week stay even more so and even more scope to explore the lake and surrounding farm and wildlife. So many butterflies! On Saturday I also arranged for a breakfast hamper and flowers to be delivered for us and Nicola didn’t let the side down. Pots full of cereals, yogurt, preserved peaches, fresh bread and honeyed butter to mention a fews really set us up for the day and more than enough which we saved for a snack later. We were torn between ‘staying in’ or venturing out localy. We did eventually tear ourselves away to see what was happing locally and found a steam festival which was fab, the Wharf Inn in Welford where the food was spot on. The local Buddhist retreat in Thornby also a gem to discover and a million miles away from hubbub of life and a nice touch to a weekend of escapism. We even found Leicester an easy commute for a gig on the Saturday evening. Would re recommend it? Absolutely! Either a family retreat or a romantic getaway you won’t be disappointed! The take home for me… us… Waking up to the light through the canvas, with the summer breeze wafting the bird song through the four poster and the leaves of the trees behind us sounding like waves. I think it is going to be difficult to top this as a mini break. Top tip… take more wine than you’ll think you’ll need 😊 Great work Claire and the team 🙏

We stayed in Maribou Lodge at Brook Meadows and had a fantastic stay. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel really welcome. What a lovely family-freindly campsite in a beautiful setting. We celebrated our daughter's 4th birthday whilst we were there. Maribou Lodge itself is lovely. It has been furnished to a beautiful standard. We had terrible weather during our stay (lots of very heavy rain and wind) but the lodge was warm and cosy and we didn't even feel the wind. Such comfortable and cosy accommodation. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you!

What a magical place. We were so sad to leave! Thank you Brook Meadow, for creating such a lovely, safe space for the kids to run feral and the adults to chill out. We had 4 wonderful nights staying in Skylark, with family also in Woodpecker. Overlooking the lake, sat on our patio - 10/10! The lodge had everything we needed and each lodge was so awesomely unique - and really felt like a home away from home. We are hoping to return with more family next year and book all 3 lodges. Also worth mentioning the site is conveniently near some great sites and things to do with the kids. We went to Windmill Farm Park, Foxton Locks and Wicksteed Park. All fab!
