Maes y Neuadd Country House Hotel

From arrival to departure, we enjoyed every second of our one night stay. We were pleasantly surprised and would happily stay here again. Michelle is an absolutely delightful host and deserves any credit that comes her way! The building is spectacular with some famous names having stayed there. The room was beautiful and spacious and very clean. The variety of dinner options was brilliant and along with the breakfast options too. We had our dog with us and he was loving the outdoor space to stretch his legs. The bar area with the fire and boardgames is a lovely space to relax. I was intrigued and started exploring the building which has hallways going in all directions. The time and effort that has gone into restoring this property hadn't gone unnoticed by us in the slightest. We'll absolutely come back and stay here for at least two nights, next time we're in Wales. Thank again to Michelle for being and outstanding host!

Stayed for a couple of days and could not recommend more. Michelle does everything to make you feel welcome, rooms are beautiful with gorgeous furnishings, delicious home cooked food, cute dogs and even sheep! Absolutely lovely!

Finding this place is not for the faint hearted. It's up a very steep teeny tiny lane, with dry stone walls along both sides and very few passing places (I learned to drive on country lanes but was holding my breath every time). My room was nicely decorated, but dusty: there is an emergency green exit light that illuminates the entire bedroom, so even once I got to sleep, I was soon woken up by the dawn; the black out curtains, though gorgeous, have a huge gap at the top so I was awake at 4am struggling to get back to sleep on a super firm bed; the bathroom only has 1 light on the ceiling and it is super bright, great for shaving my legs but just glad I didn't have to get up for the loo in the night; no hairdryer in the room but as I have curly hair, managed with the tiny fan heater provided. I wouldn't say this was a hotel as such, the info provided states it's their family home and thanks guests for tolerating the quirkiness (wonky creaky floors etc). It is a gorgeous house and there are lots of lounge rooms for guests to use. But there's no lift, no reception area and the running of it is super relaxed. I texted my arrival time to the number provided on the booking, as the m'ways were horrendous, but got no reply. On arrival you have to call a mobile number, there is absolutely no phone signal within several miles, a WiFi password is provided in the entrance hall but my phone was having none of it. After ten minutes in the entrance hall of a deserted unlit building trying to get my phone to work, did start to panic. On a good day there are glimpses of nice views between the trees of the estuary and of Snowdonia. Breakfast and dinner menus are offered at additional cost and must be prebooked. It's a great place if you want to go hiking, which I hoped to do but my Achilles did not.

Stayed here for a long weekend while exploring the local area. Lovely place, lovely location and what can I say about Michelle, she's is an absolute star! Great cook and a friendly, entertaining host. Would definitely recommend if you're visiting the area, but double check if you have accessibility issues, as there are quite a few stairs and there's no lift to upper floors.
