Windmill Retreats

Had a fabulous day out on the farm today for Afternoon Tea and then a full farm tour with Lucy after. The afternoon tea was excellent, with a huge range of delicious homemade treats! We absolutely loved sitting in our little dome accompanied by the most beautiful highland cows, who we were so excited to feed and fuss over! We then had a full farm tour so that we could meet the other highland cows, goats, alpacas, bellies and sheep. The animals are all so used to people and really lovely to spend time with. They are obviously very well cared for. Would highly recommend this trip to all animal lovers!!

we had an absolutely amazing time! we stayed in the highland hideaway shepherds hut, which was so lovely. the room was super clean upon arrival and there were loads of things included, including a fire pit and a hot tub outside, and an ethanol fire inside which makes the room suitable for all seasons. we also did the sunset pizza with the highland cows experience, although the people before us cancelled their afternoon tea experience so we opted to have the pizza earlier than the set time (7pm), which was great because we got to make the most of a sunny day with the cows. the cows were so friendly, and very eager to be fed, brushed and cuddled. i bought this trip with my partner in mind as he loves highland cows, and he was very pleased with his time here! the hosts were amazing. we were greeted by becky (i believe) and a younger teenaged girl, who were both very kind and accommodating. they showed us around and told us how everything worked, then dropped us off at our shepherds hut. when we did the pizza experience, we had some trouble starting the pizza oven. we texted the number we had been given and the host was over within 5 minutes to help us. amazing experience, had a great time. would recommend to anybody considering!

So as much as I would have loved to have given a great review as the Shepherd hut and Becky were lovely and the highland experience was great too. We were let down by poor communication from the owners from my husband booking a pizza experience with them at Christmas, which advertised making our own pizzas, in which he asked about bringing own toppings for dietary needs and were told thats fine at the time of booking. But up until the day off arrival we had had no communication from them that the experience had changed and what was available. When we got there we found out the pizzas were pre made so we could not do our own toppings. This was different to what we were told and had paid for and it was a basic pizza. Other than being offered more animal feed, no apology or attempt to rectify the issue that my husband had to then make his own meal at the hut and take up to the geodome to then be able to eat with me was not what we expected. This was a joint Christmas and anniversary experience which was disappointing we couldn't experience what we expected to together. What the voucher said and what we got was different and not worth the value we paid for. Becky apologised and advised to email Jo which I have done and left a message but no on has replied and it has now been nearly two weeks. It was such a lovely location but this has let it down and I won't be recommending or returning for this reason alone. Thank you Becky for your great service.

We had the cream tea with meet the highland cows. What a lovely welcoming place. Awesome experience. Highly recommended if you like a quiet experience with stunning views and staff that care. Meeting the highland cows was awesomely amazing. The locally produced food was out of this world which left us very full with enough to bring some home for later. Highly recommend the experience.
