Just four rooms above a traditional High Street pub in Harrogate, known locally for its steak and ale pie and free on-site parking.

About The Crown Inn

With only four rooms above the bar, The Crown Inn on Harrogate's High Street feels more like staying above a well-loved local pub than checking into a hotel. The building has a cosy, traditional atmosphere, and its restaurant is the main draw, with a menu that regularly wins praise for generous portions, particularly the steak and ale pie and a solid range of vegetarian dishes.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, drinks and family options for those travelling with children, plus breakfast to start the day. Free WiFi is available throughout, and there's outdoor seating, a bar on site, luggage storage and porter services for those arriving with bags in tow. Free on-site parking is a genuine convenience in a town centre setting. Staff are generally friendly and welcoming, though a few visitors have noted service can be inconsistent.

Harrogate itself offers plenty within easy reach, with pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, as well as walking and cycling routes for those wanting to explore North Yorkshire beyond the town. It's a straightforward, characterful base for a short stay, built around good food and a proper pub feel.

We stayed here for one night and the room was wonderful, incredible comfortable and very clean. We had a Sunday lunch when we arrived and cannot fault the food or service. We joined bingo on the Sunday evening which was great entertainment. Breakfast the next morning was lovely, with very quick service, and included with the price for the room. Would highly recommend staying here, absolutely incredible staff and service the whole time!

Lovely pub had a good menu on but we only stop for a quick drink on an evenings walk through Pateley Bridge. Great service, lovely atmosphere as regulars were setterling down fir a quiz night. We sat outside in the back were table and chairs were provided along with a decking area. Ideal as we had the dog with us. We'll worth a try.

We went here because we wanted to eat. It was 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. The waitress spoke to the kitchen who agreed to cook for us. The food was lovely. The staff could not have done more for us and were so friendly and attentive. Lovely experience. Would recommend.
