The Old Clockmakers
North Yorkshire
The Old Clockmakers is an 18th-century apartment on the first floor of a period building in Pateley Bridge, with views over the town's flower-lined High Street. The whole place is yours for the stay—a single bedroom with a double bed, bathroom with bath and shower, and a combined living and dining space. The kitchen is equipped to cook proper meals, with a cooker, dishwasher and all the usual kit. Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and heating are included; there's a free public car park 50 yards away, and a pub within a mile. No smoking inside.
Pateley Bridge sits in Nidderdale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the town itself clusters around independent shops, restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance. The Nidderdale Museum is nearby, and the Nidderdale Way—a circular walking route—passes through town. Upstream along the River Nidd you can walk to more pubs; at the valley head lie two vast reservoirs, popular with bird watchers and accessible by car. Brimham Rocks, managed by the National Trust, and Howstean Gorge both offer days out exploring the local landscape. Harrogate spa town is 13 miles south, Ripon's cathedral and gardens a similar distance away.
