What visitors say
The surrounding area is quite picturesque and beautiful, and the lakeside beach is fairly comfortable and convenient. There is also a large car park, which is free for National Trust card holders. However, on a hot summer day the beach can become extremely crowded, which may feel uncomfortable. In addition, the water quality in the lake leaves much to be desired. I would recommend this place for walks rather than for swimming.

There are beautiful walking and cycling trails through the surrounding countryside, making it a great destination for outdoor lovers. Great for hiking around, very picturesque. Unfortunately as of 25.07.26 algae is blooming, so no swimming. Lots of parking spaces, free for NT members. The sand around the pond leaves black residue on hands and clothes, just keep in mind, get wet wipes

Frensham has that unusual feeling for southern England — the pine forests, warm sandy ground, still water and that soft forest smell. • Frensham Great Pond circular walk → about 3–5 km, easy, mostly flat. Walk around the water, sandy areas, little beaches, pine trees. • Frensham Great Pond → Frensham Little Pond → about 6–8 km. This is prettier if you enjoy quiet nature. Woodland + heath + water. * Frensham Common paths → open heathland, sometimes you see ponies and lots of heather later in summer. • For Frensham Great Pond there is a car park, but normally parking charges apply every day (payment by RingGo app or card). • National Trust members can park free if they scan their membership card at the machine. • And yes — swimming is allowed only in the marked swimming areas at Great Pond (not Little Pond), and they sometimes close swimming if blue-green algae appears.
