Royal Victoria Hotel

Nice big old seaside hotel. Pay the extra couple pounds for the Suite, it's completely worth it! Breakfast was decent, but service was quite haphazard. Fine if you're not in a rush. If you are going out late, the doors lock at 11pm and you need to call the night watchman to let you in. Not a big deal as long as you have your phone available.

Don’t go here! I can’t stress it enough. It is really bad. This is a has been. The outside looks great from a far. But the inside, the lift smells damp and old. The rooms are dirty, I mean really dirty. Dust, stains, water damage it has it all and all over. We did not dare to try the breakfast. We went with a dog and understand we don’t get the best room. But when you pay 40 pound extra for a dog and get the dirtiest room I ever seen you deserve a review. I hoped they asked “how was your stay” but they knew they better not ask. So here it is. Here is the how was our stay. It’s a shame! You are a shame!

The staff were polite and professional, the the hotel looks nice until you get to rooms the family room a TV sat on ply wood because it's to big for unit it's on, wall paper tears in several places, previous guests sandals in cupboard above wardrobe, a hot tap that was so tight at times couldn't turn on, didn't leave the hook on door saying we wanted room serviced yet someone came in emptied bins restock tea coffee made beds didn't change bed linen just made the beds to doors are stiff so from swiping card you have to be quick and tough to get door open, only two windows in room can be opened a standing fan was supplied however between all four leg they were either twisted bent or damaged it could be such a lovely place to stay the outside and the stairs and lounge areas look lovely the other room I got for family members was a bit better but still had similar issues

It's in a good location for everything, however the hotel itself is a little tired inside. Checking in was good and the staff there very friendly. But when it came to the breakfast the young guy never asked us if we wanted tea or coffee and I had to go to the desk to ask, maybe a little more training needed. Food was normal. Our room was not serviced properly came back to the coffee cups not changed or tea, coffee and milk not topped up. In saying that it was somewhere to sleep. Just one step up from faulty Tower's. We were there for three nights and it was adequate.
