About The Laindons
The Laindons occupies a Georgian listed building on the High Street in Hastings Old Town, run by owners Karen and Malcolm Twist as a six-room guest house that has picked up an AA Five Star Gold Award and Booking.com's Exceptional Award. It is the kind of small, owner-run property that tends to generate repeat visitors rather than one-off stays.
Each of the six rooms is individually decorated, with an emphasis on quality linen, premium toiletries and small details over uniform hotel styling, and breakfast is a genuine set piece rather than an afterthought. The building's position on the High Street puts the castle, net shops and Old Town pubs within a few minutes' walk, and the seafront is a similarly short stroll.
It suits couples and anyone prioritising a quiet, adult-feeling stay over families with young children; the property asks that children be aged ten or over, and weekend stays typically require a two-night minimum, though the owners will consider exceptions on request.

What guests say
I had an incredible two-night stay at The Laindons. As a solo female traveler, I felt completely safe, comfortable, and genuinely welcomed from the moment I arrived. The location is ideal, just a short walk to both the beach and the Old Town. The owners are exceptional hosts, offering great local recommendations and thoughtful extras like beach towels and beach shoes that made exploring even easier. The room was immaculate, and the bed and bedding were among the most comfortable I’ve ever experienced. Breakfast each morning was outstanding. It was fresh, delicious, generous, and with plenty of variety. It is clear how much pride and care the owners put into every aspect of their guesthouse. It was easily the best place I stayed during my trip to England, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to anyone visiting Hastings.

We had a wonderful stay at The Laindons in Hastings. Our room was absolutely beautiful - bright, stylish, and full of character, with lovely yellow accents that made it feel warm and welcoming. The bed was incredibly comfortable, one of the softest and most comfortable we’ve slept in, and it made it very difficult to get up in the morning! The room was thoughtfully put together with plenty of little touches that made it feel special. We particularly loved the locally sourced toiletries, the quality soaps and hair products, and even a relaxing pillow spray waiting for us. The bathroom was spacious, spotless, and well-equipped. The breakfast each morning was exceptional. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the food and the overall guest experience. Most of all, our host was fantastic - friendly, funny, welcoming, and genuinely interesting to chat with. Nothing felt like too much trouble, and they made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. If you’re looking for a comfortable, character-filled place to stay in Hastings with amazing breakfasts and outstanding hospitality, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Laindons. We’d happily stay again. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I have to say what an amazing place to stay for a night a weekend or weeks! We had a wonderful night and was treated to a beautiful healthy tasty breakfast! Our host was awesome the decor to die for and the ambient surround was just so comfortable and relaxing. Situated in the old town, which is in my opinion the best part of Hastings, the Laindons offers you a unique style of quest house. With an amazing history and close to the beach! you would have to be crazy not to at least spend a night, a long romantic weekend or a leisurely week here. Top notch as they say or pukka! If you know what I mean. Definitely gonna have another visit soon.

Wonderfully warm and welcoming place to spend some time, thanks to Karen, Malcolm, Rebecca and staff. Beautifully and thoughtfully appointed rooms - every little aspect of making a guest feel so cared for and at home, has been thought of. I especially loved the artworks throughout the rooms and the interior design. The breakfasts too are generous, delicious and exquisitely presented. Thank you for having us.
