Hastings Old Town puts you within reach of the seafront, the castle, the funicular railway up to the country park, and the pier. Restaurants and shops line the streets nearby; there's a pub 25 yards away. Mouse House is a Grade II listed cottage built around 1841, retaining period features like exposed beams and original brickwork. It sleeps four across two bedrooms—a double and two singles—with one bathroom. A wood-burning stove warms the ground-floor living and dining room, which has a TV and DVD player. The kitchen is equipped for cooking, with a gas oven, hob, dishwasher and microwave. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are included, along with initial fuel for the stove.
The cottage's main draw is its west-facing decked courtyard, a private sitting area with garden furniture and a BBQ, away from the street. The entrance is just two steps up. Note that the stairs are open, steep and narrow. Children under 7 are not able to stay. One dog is welcome. Public car parking is 500 yards away. The property is yours alone for the duration of your stay.
