About The Lansdowne

Hastings' seafront is within easy reach of Robertson Terrace, where The Lansdowne offers a base close to the town's attractions, pubs and restaurants. It's a straightforward option for exploring the old town and coastline without needing a car, with local eateries and entertainment all nearby.

Rooms here are generously sized, many with sea views, and come with en-suite bathrooms, drinks and free WiFi. A lift serves the building and reception operates around the clock, useful for late arrivals or early starts. Breakfast is available to set guests up for the day. That said, maintenance is inconsistent from room to room, so standards can vary more than you'd expect for the price.

Staff are consistently helpful, which counts for a lot when a property is this central. Fishing spots are within reach for those who want to make use of the coastal setting, and the surrounding streets offer plenty of choice for evening meals or a drink. It suits travellers who value location and a friendly welcome over polish.

Booked a one night single sea view room here to seek peace from noisy neighbours in London. The window in my room had condensation and you could barely see out of it. As I'd booked a sea view reception were happy to change my room for me. I didn't mind which one. They actually upgraded me BUT this came at a price. Whist the room on the 1st floor was a double, gorgeous and with a balcony the couple next door continually chain smoked which filled my room. Disgusting. I'm a non smoker. The also talked very loudly until the small hours. The main window didn't open, only the balcony door which also wasn't very secure. When I mentioned it to reception upon check out they were very familiar with the couple and said they were repeat offenders and had since been blocked from booking there in future. The hotel was not busy on a Sunday in November so WHY was I put in the room next to the very guests other guests had complained about. I'm really not happy about this. Apart from that the location is amazing and despite this huge oversight, the staff were friendly and I was able to leave my bags there all day before taking a train home after a long walk.

The location of this hotel is quite good and walkable to most places in Hastings. Indeed the infrastructure is rusty, but its pricing compared to other hotels I am happy for what I got. The staff were friendly. Check-in and check out was very smooth. I think the room was clean enough and it even had a balcony. The soundproof is not good but during night time it's quiet. I have a good sleep there and the bed was okay too.

Friendly service on check in, helped me carry heavy bags up 3 flights of stairs, at the end of a long day. I knew there wasn’t a lift here so be warned if you’ve any accessibility or mobility needs. The room - well… only 2 out of 6 lightbulbs working, I stayed in a single the room long and narrow with a very small telly and very little furniture just a bed, a clothes rack, a dressing table and a chair. The carpet felt damp with bare feet and the bath panel was rattling in the wind. Bathroom Door doesn’t close properly and the room door looked like someone had tried to force it open before. The door lock isn’t very secure so I put a chair under the handle which was also loose. Finally the bed - very narrow and uncomfortable like laying on a slab same with pillows. There was a fan so felt cool enough. Was clean - checked under mattress etc. and bathroom was clean. Nice deep bath. But overall the place is massively run down, with lots of water stains on walls and ceilings. Def wouldn’t stay again, some of what was an issue could be easily resolved so it just feels neglected. Quite a lot of banging throughout the night maybe from doors. Great sea views though and lovely to hear the waves at night!

Awful hotel that needs serious maintenance. Holes in back communal hallways patched up with messy stuff. I was greeted with the most unprofessional customer service at reception desk. Also not wheel chair friendly. I would have given a zero. Shower door broken, taps loose,tv remote control filthy, no long mirror, old bubble carpet, not all room lights work, bath sink light not work, room stunk had to leave window open, not worth £70 etc etc
