Dreamcatcher

Photo: Kerry Mccafferty

Dreamcatcher sits directly on the beach with a glass-fronted terrace framing views across the Solent towards the Isle of Wight. The house sleeps six across three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a zip-and-link super king in the ground-floor bedroom (ensuite with bath and shower), a double and single on the first floor, and another super king upstairs. A sofa bed in the living space provides flexibility for larger groups.

The open-plan ground floor combines living and dining zones with two separate seating areas, each with a smart TV. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven and hob, dishwasher and washing machine. Electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are included. Parking for two cars is on site, and one dog can stay free of charge. The terrace has outdoor furniture overlooking the beach. There is no smoking anywhere in the property.

Hayling Island's shingle beach is popular with water sports enthusiasts, particularly kite and windsurfers. The beach is dog-friendly year-round. The locality is quieter than many South Coast resorts, with independent shops including The Terracotta Pot and Gift Shop nearby.

An amazing weekend trip with my family and friends. The property had all the amenities we needed and was very comfortable with an amazing beach view and superb parking for two cars which came in handy. A spacious living room able to fit us all and has a massive sofa made it feel like home✨✨✨

Surpise birthday weekend with the family. Great views, everything you could want in a house, spotlessly clean, very comfortable, ideal for walks along the beach. Plenty of eating places locally Did I mention the view out to sea and wartching the maritime traffic

Stayed for a week in June 25. Beautifully located place with everything you need. Beds were super comfy and the views were spectacular. We booked through Hoseasons who we use a lot and were disappointed with some of cleanliness. At other places we’ve stayed, they have been immaculate. Whilst all surface areas were clean, the patio windows were dirty (inside and out). They clearly hadn’t been cleaned for a while and were like this the day we arrived. Also, the sealant in the top floor bathroom shower was black and mouldy and there were dirt marks all over the plastic wall surface, especially near light switches. The seal in the upstairs bedroom needs looking at. It was quite windy when we were there and it makes a whistling noise on the right hand side. Finally, the balcony area was lovely but again hadn’t been cleaned in some time. The table on the balcony is too big and the outside area needs better furniture to sit and relax / enjoy the view. Appreciate the weather can get windy but other properties on the front seem to manage ok, or provide chairs that can be collapsed / taken back inside. Overall, not bad. High price for a nice view but we have stayed in better Hoseasons properties.

We stayed at Dreamcatcher from the 14-20 July 2024. Having stayed here previously in the winter months it was lovely to experience the cottage and Hayling Island in the summer. We absolutely love this cottage. From the amazing sea views, access to the beach, golf courses and lovely walks, to the accessibility to major cities like Portsmouth, the cottage has something for everyone. We found the cottage well equipped to cook meals and drinks on the patio are an absolute must in good weather. We would also recommend the Island Bay a 5 minute walk away, for a really great breakfast/brunch. Directions and check-in are super easy and the hosts were very responsive. We would highly recommend Dreamcatcher cottage.
