Southern Bell is a former railway carriage, substantially extended, that sits directly on the seafront with its own gate onto the pebble beach. Inside, the original carriage doors and period features remain visible, and five bedrooms spread across the ground floor mean there is no stair climbing—useful for families with young children or those with mobility concerns. One bedroom has an ensuite shower; a second bathroom with a bath and overhead shower serves the rest of the property.
The main living areas occupy the original carriage space: an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room with a smart TV and streaming services, plus patio doors to the garden. A separate annexe contains a second living room with a smart TV and Xbox, a study, and three further bedrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, and essentials like electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are included. One dog stays free, and travel cots and highchairs are available on request.
The property sits close to local shops and pubs, a short walk from the sailing club and harbour. Hayling Island is known for kitesurfing and windsurfing, with lessons and equipment hire nearby. The enclosed rear garden and front garden both have seating and furniture; there is a barbecue, bike storage and ample off-road parking. No smoking inside.

We have just spent four nights in Hayling Island and had the pleasure of staying at the Southern Belle. This is the second time we have stayed here and it was excellent. My husband and I stayed with our two children (11 and 12). Pre arrival information - EXCELLENT Communication with owner - EXCELLENT Cleanliness and maintenance - EXCELLENT Facilities - EXCELLENT The kids are of an age, where they can explore independently (to a degree) and we felt safe and happy. Clive (the owner) runs his business in the same way we would. Every detail was thought through and the customer experience at each touch point was OUTSTANDING! Top tip! There is a fantastic breakfast/lunch coffee shop round the corner called ‘Isla Bay’. We went three times, for lunch or breakfast each day. It was absolutely fantastic. Food was OUTSTANDING, service was warm and efficient. Love that is so dog friendly 🐶. Smoothies/Milkskakes were lush and we particularly loved the lunchtime salads (really creative and original) and the breakfast ‘Smoked Salmon and scrambled eggs on Sourdough Toast’ was spectacular. Fantastic accommodation for up to 9 people plus cot for infant. Straight on to pebble beach, great views over Solent to Isle of Wight. Top quality furnishings and bedding. Would recommend.

Thank you Southern Belle for an amazing weekend. Most definitely the most quirky, exceptional designed property we've ever stayed in. So we'll thought out with everything you could need. Such a fun place to chill with family & friends. We truly fell in love 🥰 & hope to come back again.

Just back from a four night visit with the family, 6 adults, 2 teenage children and 3 dogs, celebrating husband's 50th birthday. Wow, fantastic experience in the unique Southern Bell. Plenty of room for us all, great facilities, very clean, everything you need is there from tea bags to dishwasher tablets and very peaceful. Lovely welcome pack, comfortable bed's, gorgeous bedlinen, soft towels perfect location with shops and cafés nearby. Dog's had a great time too, plenty of walks and swimming.
