What visitors say
Lovely place to visit. Plenty of parking and not too expensive. Beautiful gardens, castle and plenty to keep the kids entertained. Lovely little walks all over the site. Super restaurant/coffee shop. Pre loved book shop and other gems to investigate.

Had lunch first in cafe, tasty. Wondered round house, cosy for a castle and friendly guides. The official tour allows access to more areas. Grounds are worth a visit with wild areas, play areas and a more formal walled garden. Plants available to buy at reasonable prices and a s/h book library next to the cafe. If you are into lawn mowers a quick look in the dedicated museum room is definitely worth it.

Beautiful estate and castle. The grounds are extensive with an array of formal, kitchen and rural gardens. We also took a guided tour of the castle which was extremely interesting. Well worth a visit if you like to wander around peaceful and beautiful gardens. We also enjoyed the cafe and bought some plants.

Fabulous gardens. Well tended beautiful herbaceous borders and fascinating succulent beds. Tremendous collection of ferns, one of my favourite plants. Pity we were just too late for the magnolias.
