About Baskerville Hall Hotel

Baskerville Hall Hotel sits in its own grounds at Clyro, a village a couple of miles west of Hay-on-Wye, in the stretch of countryside between the town and Brecon. The building's connections to the Baskerville family are often linked to the naming of Arthur Conan Doyle's most famous Sherlock Holmes story, adding a literary footnote to a hotel already close to the country's best-known book town.

The hotel describes itself as guest-house style rather than a formal grand hotel, with bed and breakfast accommodation set within period surroundings, and facilities that have historically included a sauna and grounds used for outdoor activities. It has also served as accommodation for visitors to the Hay Festival, given its proximity to the festival site, and hosts weddings, conferences and private events through the year.

For visitors keen to explore beyond Hay itself, the hotel's position gives quick access to Clyro and the surrounding lanes towards Painscastle and the Begwns, as well as a short drive back into Hay for its bookshops and restaurants. It suits guests who want more space and grounds than a town-centre property can offer, along with the convenience of a car-based stay.

Campsite is highly overpriced! Facilities are shocking! On a positive the location is great and quiet at night. Way better campsites that are cheaper close by. 5 Pound per night per dog is shocking! 10 pounds a night for a hookup! Last time at that place for us! We found a brilliant site just down the road.

Lovely location and a beautiful building. Evening food in the bar was very nice. Breakfast not so good and overall although it is such a beautiful looking house decor is very tired and dated. Needs a far bit of 💰💰💰 to being it up to a 4/5 star hotel. Sorry

Really disappointed with our stay. I get that it's out of season, but if facilities aren't available, you shouldn't charge as much. We paid £47 for a single night camping! When we arrived, we told the pool wasn't available and the restaurant and bar were closed. On a positive note the staff were friendly and it's still a stunning setting...but you would get more customers if you were reasonable with pricing. Have a different tariff for out of season camping.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and comfortable with an en-suite. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. All this in a unique setting. We look forward to another visit.
