Herefordshire's countryside is scattered with ancient settlements and historic routes—this corner of the county sits near a Roman road and old hill fort, with the Black and White Village Trail and Hereford Cathedral within reach. The Cart Shed itself dates back 250-300 years, originally built as a winter store for farm equipment and now thoroughly restored as a two-bedroom holiday cottage in Knapton village. Everything is on the ground floor: a living space with woodburner and Freesat, a separate dining area, and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking. One bedroom has a four-poster double; the other is a zip-and-link bed that splits into singles if needed. A wet room with shower completes the layout.
Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are all included, along with initial logs for the fire. The kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher and washing machine. A travel cot and highchair are on hand for families with young children. Outside, an enclosed lawned garden with sitting-out area looks onto 6 acres of shared grounds where you can wander at will. There's a shed with freezer for extra storage and parking for three cars. One dog stays free; sheep farming means dogs must remain on a lead. The owners live next door with a smallholding of pigs, geese, chickens and bees—you may encounter their two dogs on arrival. A pub and restaurant are within walking distance, while Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire, the Brecon Beacons and Shropshire are all reasonably close for day trips. No smoking throughout.

What a great idea this is. An opportunity for people to be active outdoors, supported by understanding staff and volunteers.

I went to the Cart Shed for a taster day. People there were friendly, especially the members of staff. The food was great and just the atmosphere in general was wonderful. The best part was when I got to sit near the campfire
