Really pleasent location, basic but quiet and scenic. Toilets are handy too. We had an issue with the ticket staff who came round to check we’d paid with two Labrador’s off lead (the whole camp site says dogs on leads which ours were) and his dogs approached ours very quickly and friendly but we have a reactive old German Shephard who freaked out and caused a bit of a commotion. Maybe need to consider sticking to your own rules

We came to this site for our first family camping experience. It was somewhat local so we had the opportunity to use our gear and determine what our must haves are and what we need to get for future trips. We were keen and optimistic on arrival. It’s a beautiful location and the orchard is stunning offering a smaller area to utilise. We opted for the field and found a spot right at the back where we could have our dogs and be left to our own devices. Everything about the site was good. The facilities are basic but everything you need. However when a staff member came to check in on us they turned up on a golf cart with two golden retrievers in tow. We have a reactive German shepherd. He was on the lead as was specified by the rules laid out on the website. The retrievers however were not on leads. They jumped from the golf cart and headed straight to our reactive dog. The man in question, despite being told our dog was reactive and not dog friendly did nothing to recall his dogs or keep them under control. This led to a panic of us trying to secure our dog and maintain his safe space. This was extremely stressful and dampened our experience. The lovely site, the facilities and the space were all what we were looking for but I would be hesitant in returning knowing that the staff do not follow their own rules when it comes to animals on site. We made sure to keep our dogs secured and under control as per the rules of the site and for their own wellbeing. It was unnecessary and completely avoidable and added a stress that we didn’t need. I would be extremely cautious in returning with my dogs in the future

This is a field. Lots of storage vans and locks like people live here. Large dogs running free so wasn't able to walk my dog. Dog mess everywhere where owners of 2 large retrievers don't pick up after their animals. Electric not included in price so as expensive as a fully maintained holiday park. Toilets were clean and had all that was needed, soap and hand towels however i Won't be staying again.

In an effort to dust off the old camping gear and make sure it all still worked, a decision was made to choose a campsite near to home...just in case family issues, running low on caviar, war breaking out etc.. So, having had a nosey about, electric hook ups were a must on the list being a party of 6 for this occasion....and if phones aren't charged, all hell breaks loose....even though this is supposed to be camping! This place was high on the list because of location and hook up points. The location is just off the main A1M/A507 service station roundabout, the site has the 2 options listed: Field (with electric hook up points) and Orchard (without electric hook up points. Getting to this is a bit tight, so sensible speeds are a must, especially if you are towing a caravan or driving a motorhome. The site is basic, but that doesn't mean poor, personally I like somewhere where it isn't synthetically adapted for modern sensibilities, and there is plenty of plantlife to encourage wildlife...which is nice. The field has an array of both peripheral and central hook up posts, I was lucky enough to snaffle the last one (central) though 2 of the best positioned ones were out of service on our visit. Grass was flat and in very fair condition, certainly good enough for an 8 man tent, a gazebo and a few tables & chairs. Facilities wise, it is basic and was fully aware of this before coming here (comes with actually doing research before selecting and booking), there is a single toilet block which is partioned off into 2 sets of 2 cubicles and handwashing sinks....it isn't a fully segregating wall though, so the strainers and complainers can be heard easily by the neighbouring cubicles. Whilst a little behind the times, the toilet block is clean, functional and regularly re-stocked. There is a single disposal point for chemical toilets (or in my case, washing up water), again, basic but functional...and that is about all she wrote...but I don't have a single issue with that. The area is surrounded by fields which makes for a lovely stroll, there is also a beautiful lake and small river, all very close by to the campsite. The gripes are few...well, just 3.. 1. The septic tank on the Orchard side was full (corroborated by the high level indicator), this had an accompanying whiff to match...though you can't smell this on the Field side. 2. Was a wee bit of a control issue on the first night where 5 families rocked up and poorly positioned their tents and vehicles, making for challenging access and egress both for other vehicles, and my own tent...but they only stayed for 1 night, so all is forgiven. 3. I was travelling heavy, my partner and myself bought the tent and other associated accessories on the first car run and set up the basics before going back and getting people, the rule on the website states that you can provisionally book hook ups by plugging into them (which I did, obvs), but owing to the need to get back to pick the rest of the family up, I'd missed the person coming round to take payment for the electric....when I came back, this had been unplugged by said person and had nearly lost out this power point to the 5 sets of families mentioned earlier. Now, the courtesy would have been to contact myself to ensure that payment would be made available, there was obviously nobody in and around the tent, so this should have been the next natural course of action...had I have lost this hook up, teenagers may have thrown shoes and anything else the flies reasonably well.. So, I do rate this campsite for what it is and is advertised as, I'm surprised to see some of the reviews actually slating this place, you get what you pay for...and it is very fairly priced.
