The Firemans House

The Firemans House sits converted from the original fireman's quarters at Torr Vale Mill, a Grade II* listed building that operated continuously from 1785 to 2000. The mill itself overlooks the River Goyt in a deep valley on the edge of the Peak District; from here, the Millennium Walkway—a 160-metre cantilevered structure through the gritstone gorge—is a short walk away. New Mills town centre, with its restaurants, cafes and pubs, sits within reach for supplies and dining out.

The cottage accommodates four guests across two bedrooms: a kingsize on the ground floor and a double upstairs. Upstairs you'll also find the main living and dining space with views toward the mill and river. The kitchen has a full electric cooker, hob, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. A bathroom with bath and shower completes the facilities. Electricity, WiFi, bed linen and towels are included. Two cars can park on site, and there's bike storage for exploring the local area. One dog is welcome here. Note that the property has several steps at the entrance and throughout.

The grounds include a lawned garden, and an electric car charging point is available if needed. No smoking is permitted inside. The location suits walkers and anyone drawn to industrial heritage—the mill's conversion preserves its character while offering comfortable modern self-catering facilities.
