The Old Workshop

You climb wooden stairs into a converted 18th-century mill workshop, emerging into an open-plan living space where original stone walls meet contemporary furnishings. Industrial heritage is woven through the room—old drivebelt wheels run through the open roof beams, a tangible reminder that this building once housed working machinery. Three bedrooms occupy the same floor: two with kingsize beds, one with a kingsize and a single day bed. One bedroom opens directly onto a small gravelled terrace with views down to the River Goyt. There are two bathrooms, one with a roll-top bath and shower attachment, the other a separate shower cubicle.

The Old Workshop sits within High Lea Park at Torr Vale Mill, a Grade II* listed site that operated continuously between 1785 and 2000. The property has its own enclosed garden with terrace and furniture, private parking for three cars, and bike storage. Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are included; the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking. The nearest landmark, Torr Vale Mill Limited, is on the grounds themselves. A short walk away, the Millennium Walkway—a 160m cantilevered path—cuts through the gritstone gorge, opening access to an area of exceptional natural beauty and industrial heritage. Please note there are 17 steps to the entrance and a fast-flowing river within the grounds. Smoking is not permitted.
