By the Sea is a traditional cottage built into the character of Avoch, a working fishing village on the Black Isle. The building sits on James Street among period architecture that speaks to centuries of maritime life here. From the front door, the sea is barely a hundred metres away—genuinely coastal rather than countryside with a view.
Inside there are two bedrooms (a king and two singles) and one bathroom with bath and shower. The ground floor has a living and dining room opening onto an enclosed garden with patio, plus a kitchen equipped for self-catering with oven, hob, dishwasher and microwave. Essentials like bed linen, towels, heating and wifi are covered. One dog stays free of charge, and the garden is secure.
Avoch sits twenty minutes from Inverness and within reach of the North Coast 500 route, making it a base for exploring the far north—Applecross, Torridon, Ullapool and Skye are possible day trips. Locally, the old harbour still has a small fishing fleet and runs dolphin-watching trips. Fortrose Cathedral, a 13th-century ruin, is a few miles south. The property does not permit smoking.
