The Old Chandlery
Highland
The Old Chandlery is a converted fisherman's store in Avoch, a fishing village on the Black Isle, positioned across from the harbour with views over the water towards the Moray Firth. The building sits on the hillside facing the village's narrow streets, a reminder of when fishing boats were hauled ashore for protection during storms. Access to the front entrance involves 13 steps; there is no step-free access to the rear.
Sleeping four guests, the property has three bedrooms—one with a kingsize bed and two with singles—plus one bathroom with a shower cubicle. Downstairs, the open living and dining room has Freeview television, and the kitchen is fitted with an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge, all you need for everyday cooking and entertaining. A utility room houses the washing machine, and there is a separate toilet. A patio garden with furniture sits behind the house, and on-road parking is available along with free public car park spaces nearby. Travel cots, highchairs and stairgates are available on request. Electricity, mains gas heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included; the property does not permit smoking indoors.
The beach lies 400 yards away, and the nearest pub is 1¾ miles distant. Inverness is around 20 minutes' drive, or accessible by regular bus service. The wider Black Isle, including Fortrose and Cromarty, is within easy reach for exploration. One dog is welcome.
