Croft 105

The shoreline of north Sutherland is dramatic and austere, and Croft 105 sits at the edge of it, a modern cottage in Portskerra with views across the Pentland Firth towards Orkney. The building itself is new, designed around floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the seascape. On the ground floor, an open-plan living area brings the kitchen, dining space and lounge together; a woodburner warms cooler evenings, and underfloor heating runs throughout. There is no television—instead, the cottage has books and board games. Two ensuite bedrooms and a separate bathroom serve four guests comfortably. A utility room and additional fridge help with provisioning, and the kitchen includes an induction hob, oven, dishwasher and air fryer.

One dog can stay free. Electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered in the booking, and initial fuel for the woodburner is supplied. Outside, a patio with furniture and garden space overlook the water, and there is parking for two cars. Portskerra is a small settlement; West End Stores and the local post office are nearby. The NC500 coastal route passes close by, linking to longer drives around the far north. No smoking inside.
