Eagle Cottage

Eagle Cottage comes ready for a proper stay. Electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are all included, and the kitchen is set up for cooking—electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer and washing machine mean you can manage a week without thinking about provisions twice. The living room has a TV and DVD player, and an electric wood burner for warmth. One dog can stay free, though it must remain on a lead as the cottage sits on a working croft where sheep graze.

The cottage itself is a traditional stone building spread across two floors. Downstairs holds the living room and a combined kitchen-dining space; the shower room is also on the ground floor. Upstairs, two bedrooms sleep four: one with a double bed (4ft 6in), one with two singles (3ft each). Around two acres of enclosed grassland surround the property, with sitting-out areas and garden furniture, plus parking for three cars on site.

Location-wise, you're on a coastal croft in north-west Sutherland with views across Culkein Bay towards Handa Island and the mountains beyond. Culkein Bay itself is a short walk away. The beaches at Achmelvich, Clashnessie and Clachtoll are within easy driving distance, and the area is known for hill walking, climbing, kayaking and mountain biking. Lochinver, a working fishing port with shops, pubs and restaurants, lies a short drive inland. The nearest shop is four miles away; the nearest pub and restaurant ten.
