Glenrossal Cottages - Birch Cottage

The River Cassley runs past Glenrossal, a working estate in Sutherland where Birch Cottage sits as one of two stone farm conversions. Salmon fishing is available on the estate's own 2½ mile stretch of the river, with six rods available Monday to Saturday, split between two beats; there is also a small loch behind the cottages for practice or for those new to fishing. The setting is remote and quiet, though within reach of the Highland ranges and lochs that draw visitors to this part of Scotland.
The cottage sleeps four across two bedrooms—one with a kingsize bed, one with two singles—and has a single bathroom with shower over the bath. Downstairs is open-plan living with a wood-burning stove in an exposed stone wall, and a separate kitchen area fitted with an electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher and microwave. Essentials including electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are provided, along with logs for the burner. The enclosed garden is shared with the adjoining cottage and comes with seating and tables. One dog is welcome to stay at no extra cost. The property is set back only two steps from the entrance and there is parking for two cars on-site. Note that the water supply comes from a borehole and there is an unfenced river about 20 yards away.

What guests say
One of the most beautiful glens in Scotland complete with eagles and ospreys but sadly fewer and fewer salmon.
