March Cottage

Highland

The River Cassley cuts through a deep glen in Sutherland, and March Cottage sits four miles into this valley where the landscape opens up to hills on all sides. Red deer come down to graze by the water; golden eagles and ospreys hunt overhead. The setting is genuinely remote—the nearest shop is fourteen miles away—yet Inverness and the west coast are both within an hour's drive.

The cottage itself is a spacious detached house with four bedrooms and three bathrooms, sleeping six. Downstairs, the kitchen and dining room have French windows looking across the grounds toward the river and hillside. The living room centres on a wood-burning stove; there's a utility room for laundry. Upstairs are four bedrooms: a kingsize with its own en-suite shower, then two single rooms, another single, and a family bathroom with bath and overhead shower. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included. One well-behaved pet stays free.

This is the sort of place for extended family trips or groups wanting serious seclusion. Walkers have direct access to the hills from the door. The river itself is a working salmon fly-fishing water—you can arrange beats through Fishpal if that appeals. No smoking indoors; the property has its own parking.
