Invernahyle Cottage

Photo: Invernahyle Cottage

Invernahyle Cottage is a contemporary detached property on the west coast of the Highlands, between Oban and Fort William. Built to high standards, it sits at ground level with views stretching across countryside to Loch Linnhe, and the beach lies just over a mile away. Three bedrooms—two with super-kingsize beds, one with singles—each have their own shower room, plus there's a family bathroom with a bath. The whole place is yours alone, sleeping six comfortably.

The open-plan living space flows between sitting area, dining space and kitchen, with patio doors opening onto decking. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking; essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all provided, and wifi keeps you connected when you want it. On-site parking means you can leave the car once you've arrived. No smoking throughout.

This corner of the Highlands works for active breaks—hiking trails, the Caledonian Way cycle route, skiing and ice climbing at Glencoe, golf five miles off, fishing and horse riding nearby—or simply days watching the loch from the decking. Fort William and Oban are short drives for restaurants and shops. The setting itself, though, tends to be reason enough to stay put.

Fantastic accommodation. High standard. Good enough for the wife I reckon. Shame she's at home. 😀
