Achindarroch Touring Park

This is one of the most beautiful and best-maintained campsites I have ever stayed at. Anne and Dicky have clearly created this place with great care and attention to detail, and it is obvious how much they care about nature and wildlife. From the excellent recycling facilities, where almost everything can be separated and even batteries can be recycled, to the areas intentionally left unmown to provide habitat for wildlife, every part of the site reflects their dedication. Throughout the campsite you will find thoughtfully created wildlife features such as log piles, branches left as natural shelters, and bird boxes. It is therefore no surprise that so many wild rabbits and bird species can be seen around the site every day. Right next to the campsite are Glen Duror Forest and a beautiful walking path, both of which provide wonderful opportunities for walks with a dog. Anne and Dicky are incredibly attentive hosts who genuinely care about their guests. From the moment you arrive, you feel welcome, comfortable and well looked after. A truly special place, and one that I would happily return to.

Disappointing experience overall. From the moment we arrived, the welcome from the host felt abrupt and unfriendly, which immediately created an uncomfortable atmosphere. We were made to feel like an inconvenience during our stay, rather than paying guests. Sadly, the atmosphere never improved, and we spent much of the visit feeling uneasy, as though we were walking on eggshells. We’ve stayed at many campsites over the years and have never experienced such an unwelcoming environment. A remark from one of the hosts - “you’re lucky you’ve got me in a good mood” - only added to the uncomfortable atmosphere and reinforced how unwelcome we felt. It’s a shame because, aside from the shower facilities, the campsite itself has potential. However, when running a campsite, basic courtesy and a warm, welcoming attitude should really be the minimum expectation, and unfortunately that was completely lacking during our visit. As this was our final stay in Scotland, it was especially disappointing that it ended on such a negative note. We couldn’t wait to leave the campsite. If you’re looking for a warm, relaxed, and enjoyable camping experience, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. There are plenty of campsites that genuinely appreciate their guests and know how to create a positive, welcoming atmosphere.

We’ve just returned from a few days at this spot, and honestly, it’s a total gem. If you’re looking for a base that balances peace and quiet with proper convenience, this is it. The location is spot on—nestled nicely between Oban and Fort William, and just a stone’s throw from Glen Coe. Even though it’s super close to the main road, which makes getting in and out with the caravan a complete doddle, it is remarkably peaceful once you’re on site. The owner is a total credit to the place—genuinely helpful and friendly without being overbearing, which makes a massive difference when you’re trying to settle in. Everything is kept immaculate, too; the facilities are brilliantly clean, and it makes such a difference to have reliable electric hook-up (EHU) and water and grey waste points right near the pitches. Whether you’re in a tent, camper van, or towing a caravan like us, the layout just works. We’ll definitely be heading back here next time we're up this way.

We were honestly shocked by how we were greeted, instant rudeness and a really unfriendly attitude from the start. It genuinely felt like they didn’t even want people there, which created a very weird and uncomfortable atmosphere. The whole place had this tense, unwelcoming vibe, and the owners came across as some of the most grumpy and unfriendly people we’ve dealt with. Running a campsite (or any customer-facing business) requires basic respect, patience, and professionalism, none of which we experienced here as paying customers. If you’re looking for a relaxed and friendly environment, I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere. They simply don’t deserve your money.
