About The Onich Hotel

The wooden glamping pods at The Onich Hotel sit right on the beach at Loch Linnhe, with nothing between you and the water but spectacular views – Glencoe's mountains to the east, Morvern and Mull to the west. Each modern pod sleeps up to four and comes with its own shower, compact kitchenette, and private decking where you can enjoy meals against that stunning backdrop. Daily housekeeping means you needn't lift a finger, and when you fancy eating out, the hotel serves excellent food – the steak pie and Cullen Skink draw particular praise – alongside friendly service and a bar perfect for sunset drams.

It's an idyllic base for walkers, kayakers and climbers, with Fort William close by and that rare combination of remote beauty and nearby amenities. The hotel rooms themselves can feel a bit dated and tired in places, but for those staying in the pods, the focus is firmly on that unbeatable lochside location and the freedom to relax in serious style.

My wife and I stayed in room 1. The room itself was good enough. The shower in the bathroom squirted out black gunk when first used. Also mould in the shower recess. There are plenty of products that can be used to clean this so there is no excuse for this. Bathroom sink plug hole also had black gunk growing in it. The most annoying issue was a continuous background droning noise coming through the wall. Sounded like an engine was running. Noise stopped at 10 PM but started again early morning and woke us both up. Nice location but not a great hotel for a restful stay. The source of the noise in my room is the ventilation shaft shown in the attached photo.

We stayed in one of the luxury glamping pods and it was everything we had hoped for. Spacious, very clean, king size bed (which we've never had in a pod!) and underfloor heating! Dog friendly as well, so our pooch loved it! Staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive. The food was lovely, we had dinner one night and breakfast the next morning, both cooked to order, fresh and delicious. The pod was pretty much on the beach, the relaxing sound of the waves just melted the stress away 😊. The one and only negative was the traffic thundering past at all hours but the fresh sea air and exercise, good food with a glass of nice wine definitely helps you sleep through most of it! Lovely place, we'll definitely be back!

We were passing by and dropped in at the off chance of getting an evening meal. The staff were super polite, friendly and very hospitable. We both had chosen the steak pie which was probably the best i have ever had to be honest. The meat was so tender, the puff pastry was so light and the gravy was perfect in it. My wife chose the apple tart for dessert and absolutely loved it and said she had never tasted anything like it. I myself had the sticky toffee pudding and again, light and just perfect. The next time I'm in the area this is the hotel i would certainly book not just for the gorgeous views but also their wonderful friendly staff and their amazing food.

Dog-friendly. Friendly staff, easy check-in. We stayed in a Grand Luxury Pod. The pod was really lovely with an amazing view of the loch. Decent size. Good food in the restaurant.
