Mey Bee sits within a wildflower meadow an acre in size, under the expansive Caithness skies of the far north. The cottage was rebuilt from a ruin, and the landscape stretches flat and open all around it—most windows frame views across rural terrain towards the sea and the Orkney Islands beyond. Stone pathways curve through the grounds, leading past a zen garden at the rear and a vegetable patch guests can use. There's a firepit in the meadow, and space enough to pitch a tent if you want to sleep under the stars.
Inside, a single bedroom and bathroom serve two guests. The main living area is open-plan, combining kitchen, dining and sitting space with wood burners for warmth. A utility room by the back entrance handles boots and wet kit. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included. There is parking on site and a woodshed that doubles as bike storage. The Mey Hotel lies nearby for meals and supplies.
This is coastal territory—the shore is within a mile—in one of Scotland's quietest corners. Non-smokers only.
