Rispond Estate - The Cottage

Highland

The Cottage is a stone building on Rispond Estate, a remote 200-acre property in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty off the North Coast 500. It sleeps two in a double bedroom (convertible to twins) plus a sofa bed, with a bathroom that has both bath and shower. Everything needed for a self-catering stay is here: bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi, electricity, and a welcome pack with Scottish rapeseed oil, salt and pepper for cooking. The main living space sits upstairs, making the most of views across the harbour to the hills; downstairs, a wood burner keeps things warm.

The location works for both solitude and activity. Ceannabeinne beach is a short walk away; Durness village, 4 miles distant, has a supermarket, coffee shop, chocolatier, and a hotel with a bar. The estate's long coastline borders Loch Eriboll, with Ben Hope and Ben Loyal visible from the property. Wildlife is abundant—deer, otters, eagles and seals appear regularly. Walking, kayaking, sailing and fishing are all available nearby; sea and brown trout fishing on the estate itself requires no licence. Cape Wrath, Britain's north-westerly point, is a short drive and seasonal ferry away. One dog stays free. Smoking is not permitted inside.
