The drive to Shieldaig from Torridon is worth taking slowly—dramatic scenery and stopping points line the route. Rubha Lodge sits above the village, with Shieldaig Island directly opposite, home to nesting sea eagles visible from the main windows. The village itself has a hotel and restaurant within walking distance, and the Loch Torridon Smokehouse is nearby for provisions or food.
The house centres on a large open-plan living space with a wood burner and substantial windows framing the island and sea. A well-equipped kitchen with a new island unit sits a few steps up, along with a utility room and shower room on the ground floor. The main bathroom has both a roll-top bath and separate shower. Upstairs, a small office area overlooks the landing, followed by two generously sized bedrooms—one with a superking bed and two windows, the other with a king and single bed. A newly fitted bathroom with roll-top bath and shower serves the bedrooms. Outside, a walled garden has seating facing the island, and steps lead down to a shingle beach for picnics. Binoculars are provided for watching sea eagles, seals and other wildlife. Wi-Fi and the essentials—bed linen, towels, electricity—are included. The property is non-smoking.
