Thistle Dubh is a detached bed and breakfast on one level in Drumnadrochit, a village on the shores of Loch Ness. Everything is on the ground floor: the open-plan living space has a TV, DVD player and books; the kitchen is equipped for proper cooking with an electric cooker and microwave; the bedroom holds two single beds and opens onto a decked area; and there is a wet room with shower and grab rail. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. The enclosed garden has furniture and a barbecue, and there is parking for two cars on site.
The location works well for exploring Highland attractions—Urquhart Castle, Glen Affric, Glen Urquhart and the Great Glen Way are all nearby—or for activities like mountain biking, forest walks and boat trips on the loch. Shops, pubs and restaurants are a quarter-mile away. The property does not welcome smoking. Note that while the building is single-storey, there are thresholds in some doorways.

I stayed for one night, the night I entered my birthday, and it was honestly such a lovely experience. Margaret was so warm and welcoming, it felt like visiting a friend. The place is cosy, beautifully looked after, and full of charm. Breakfast was perfect, and I really appreciated that she had vegan milk for my coffee, such a small thing but it made me smile. A wonderful stay I’ll definitely remember.

A lovely experience with Margaret and her husband in a beautiful property in a perfect location near Lock Ness. Everything is done to perfection and you get home like feeling with wanting to stay longer and longer, not to forget Margaret's delicious home cooked food. I would definitely love to visit again someday! Highly recommended.

Lovely guest house outside of town but right on the Great Glen Way if you are hiking. Very friendly and helpful innkeepers and a delicious breakfast, one of the best we had! Rooms are very clean and comfortable, couldn’t ask for more, but it is a short walk to shops and restaurants.
