About Old Barn Farm Certificated Location

Old Barn Farm Certificated Location suits couples and families after a low-key base in rural Cumbria. It's a small site with the kind of working facilities that matter: clean toilets, hot showers and a generous pot-washing area. Fire pits are included, and the staff know the local area well enough to point you towards decent walks and pubs within reach.

Pitches are straightforward, with views across the surrounding countryside. The main draw here is the combination of reliable basics and genuine local knowledge from people who actually live in the area, rather than frills or a big list of activities on site. Holmrook itself is a quiet spot; if you want to explore further afield, the location gives you access to the western edges of the Lake District.

Loved this spot for me and my partner. Great to have a covered area to hang out in case of bad weather. Showers are lively and hot and all facilities well taken care of and clean. Free fire pits and wood available to buy. Jonty was great, good knowledge of the area and had us chuckling from the start. Amazing views and a pub 10 mins walk away with great food and massive portions. We will be back for sure.

Myself and friends stayed this weekend and had an amazing time. Close to great places to walk and great scenery. Pubs/cafes close by for bite to eat and 10 min drive to Seascale which is a local seaside town with a pub/beer garden overlooking the beach. Staff at the Barn campsite were very friendly and attentive, they also offer very clean amenities. Will definitely be returning.

Jonnty, the campsite manager, was incredibly rude and unpleasant to me when an incident occured while my group were out, meaning that we were unable to get back to the campsite by the 10pm quiet time. The incident almost required a hospital trip, yet Jonnty did not care and aggressively told me that when we arrived back we would have to push our vehicle back to the pitch as we would be later than 10pm - this is after I had suggested parking out the front where there is space for a couple of cars or turning off the lights and quietly driving up to the pitch, but neither of these options made him feel powerful enough I guess. Especially ridiculous seeing as when we did arrive back, I could hear groups still loudly talking and vehicles coming and going anyway. It's a shame as the facilities were lovely, but I won't stand being spoken to the way Jonnty spoke to me at what was already a very stressful moment.

The non electric sizes are small but other than that, you have an amazing stay. I had a euro hike air 4L tent so survived! We stayed whilst storm Dave came so it was eventful! Showers are clean and very basic but everything you need for a couple of nights stay! The beach is a 20 minute drive which is amazing with an unreal chippy and ice cream parlour!
