About Cornmill Hotel

Mount Pleasant sits close to Hull's waterside, and the Cornmill Hotel makes the most of that riverside setting with a garden and outdoor seating area where guests can sit outside the bustle of the city centre. The hotel itself is a comfortable, unfussy base with en-suite rooms, air conditioning, family rooms, and free WiFi throughout, plus a lift for easier access to upper floors. Some guests have found the beds less comfortable than they'd like, but the rooms overall are kept clean and well presented.

Food is a strong point, with an on-site Italian restaurant that has built a following for its cooking, alongside a bar and the option of breakfast to start the day. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and the hotel offers 24 hour reception, luggage storage, and a laundry service for practical needs during a stay. Free on-site parking is secure and well-lit, a detail regularly appreciated by drivers.

Beyond the hotel, the surrounding area offers fishing, watersports, and a choice of nearby pubs and restaurants, making it a workable base for exploring Hull and the water on its doorstep.

Had a fab 4 day stay at this hotel, we were greeted on check in, by a lovely lady. Who was helpful to our needs. We went upto our room which was on the first floor. The room was lovely and cool as the air conditioning was on. The room was clean and tidy. The highlight of the room had to be the mini fridge in the cupboard. Was an absolute god send in the heat. We had room only accommodation, although breakfast was available at an additional cost. We had a lovely 5 days at the cornmill and will definitely be back.

Great clean and tidy rooms lots of space is the king size double rooms we had a lovely over night stay . Very comfortable bed and great wash facilitys includes show gel . Only things id say would be for a glass to be provided in the rooms for a drink of water especially for those people who take meds . Coffee facilitys are provided but no milk in the rooms but can be provided from reception . We also found the italian was lovely for a great evening meal but this is seperate to the hotel area but great for drinks and food and lovely meals comes out fresh and hot . Breckfast was good . Full continental only but lots of choice of fresh meats cheeses cereal and yogurts and breads and pastries . Over all we would recommend this place for anybody visiting the area . 100% friendly and affordable .

For the price of a single room, I can’t complain. The staff are ever so friendly and helpful. Rooms very clean, bed comfortable. If you like Italian food, there’s a restaurant which although I only had a pint in, it was always busy, so must be good. Opposite is a kfc, McDonald’s, subway Asda and a few other discount shops. There’s also Plenty of takeaways if your into that. £8 for 24 hour parking isn’t bad at all considering it’s every well Lit, secure and onsite.

I booked this hotel for firstly the location it is situated near good travel links to hull city center and minutes from the main road links on the A63 , it is also surrounded by a huge variety of shops supermarkets and eateries and many takeaways including on site they have a very popular and successful italian restaurant which sadly I did not have the opportunity to try, because I only stayed one night. I looked on line and chose this hotel as it was close to family and friends and has easy access to a great bus service, also as like every one else i looked at the pictures the hotel had put on different booking sites and it looked very inviting and comfortable and the price was comparable to several other hotels in the area. On arrival check in was welcoming and informative but when I went to my room I was shocked it was nothing like the picture I had seen on line it had a mish mash of furniture in the room which was quite small there was a pedestal next to the bed posing as some sort of bedside table it was a lot taller than the bed the other obsolete piece of furniture was marked on the top surface and on the inside had a tiny shelf which was of no use to put anything on the other half of this cabinet was just one empty square box it had many shelf holes in so presume at one point it had shelfs in the wardrobe had two limp plastic hangers and on having to put several items on my clothes slid off as the hangers were not rigid enough. The curtains in both the bathroom and bedroom were stained one with paint the bedroom window was missing the handle the bed was an old type sprung matress variety so when you sat on it you could just hear the squeaking of the springs the worse thing was the matress was stained both the main area and on one side which I could clearly see because they had not put a matress protector know proper fitted sheet to cover it over the quilt was not big enough to cover an adult ,the floor was sticky and had square raised patches near the bathroom it looked as though it had been repaired. The bed was not comfortable so I did not sleep well with the small single quilt I was told the next day that I should of got out of bed gone to reception to get a bigger one.I did go to reception and get the receptionist to come to the room to verify my issues she was apologetic and said they could not move me to another room as they were full and to see reception the next day to sort out another room. The next day I had breakfast although the room itself was very small with only enough room for a few tables the continental breakfast was very good and the staff member on duty was warm and welcoming. I went to reception the next morning and instead of trying to solve my situation I was not offered another room but was told that this was a budget hotel and I could not expect every room to be perfect as the hotel was being refurbished this attitude was quite shocking and was given by the housekeeper the receptionist did offer an apology and was helpful in my departure this hotel needs to train staff more in customer I did take all photos to back my issues and the night receptionist verified my issues was given complimentary breakfast and got a refund from Expedia whom I'd booked with before I had even checked out its such a shame as this hotel could be so much better.
