About The Earlsdale

Homemade biscuits waiting in the room set the tone at The Earlsdale, a seven-room bed and breakfast on St Brannocks Road in Ilfracombe. It's a small, personally-run place where the decor has been thought through room by room, and where quiet and comfort matter as much as the finishing touches.

Each of the seven rooms is en-suite, with free WiFi and drinks available in the room. Breakfast is a proper spread, freshly prepared and generous, with vegan choices alongside the usual options, and there's a bar on site along with outdoor seating for slower mornings or evenings. Reception runs around the clock, and free on-site parking makes arriving by car straightforward.

Ilfracombe's coastline and the wider North Devon area are within easy reach, and the property sits near cycling and walking routes, golf, fishing, horse riding and watersports, plus pubs and restaurants nearby for evenings out. It suits guests who want a comfortable, well-kept base without fuss, close to the coast and its activities.

We stayed in Room 2 for three nights and received a very warm welcome on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, James and Lewis. The room and public areas were beautifully decorated with lots of personal touches. The honesty bar was well stocked and a nice place to relax and get to know the other guests. The breakfast was excellent. Great choice of vegan options both continental and cooked - and generous portions. The bed was very comfortable, but if you are a light sleeper like me (if you are in the front bedrooms) I recommend ear plugs (it is a Victorian building on a main road after all). A small price to pay for a stay at this wonderful B&B and great hosts. We will return!

The Earlsdale is such a five star experience! From the moment you arrive, Lewis and James make you feel so welcome. Easy onsite parking, great location a short walk up the hill from Ilfracombe town, access to the old railway path and of course the south west coast path. Our room was quiet, cosy, beautifully decorated and really good tea/coffee. Breakfast is such a highlight - freshly made full brekkie every morning to your liking with lots of choice. The accommodation is wonderfully furnished throughout and it’s so evident the work and pride that goes into making this a really special place to stay. We enjoyed having a drink in the downstairs bar before walking into town to a recommended restaurant. Thank you for a really relaxed and comfortable stay!

What an amazing place. The decor is beautiful with such attention to details. The homemade cookie on arrival and the huge selection of teas always available in the cute little bar area is such a lovely touch. The vegan breakfast was outstanding with several choices, including homemade muffins and chia pudding. I'd recommend this place 100% Thanks Lewis and James for being such amazing hosts. I look forward to visiting again!

Just wanted to praise the lovely Earlsdale B&B in Ilfracombe, for hosting the most sensational multi-course dining experience for Valentine’s… We had such a feast and my partner and I couldn’t recommend the place enough. The hosting was sensational and we loved the atmosphere. If anyone had family/friends heading down from up north, we will be sending them their way, without doubt. Hospitality at its finest. I think a lot of hard work and care has gone into this place, so please support them!
