What guests say
This is the coziest place I have ever been to. Rachel waited for us in the evening with the fireplace lit, tea and lemon cake. It was the most warm welcome we have experienced so far. She also gave us suggestions on where to pet highland coos and what to visit. The room was very spacious and the bathroom was enormous, with both a tub and a shower, which was perfect. In the morning we had breakfast again with the fireplace lit and Rachel cooked for us from a predefined menu. The food was amazing. Overall we had the best experience here and we are already planning our return. But this time we will definitely stay for at least 3 days just to relax. Thank you!

Absolutely outstanding. Rachael and James have attended to all the details, from a roaring fire when a bit cooler, to huge comfortable beds with quality linen. Even use of the kitchen for evening meals by guests. I wish we could have stayed longer, but we are already looking to return. Lots of walks and sights to see in a short drive from the Lodge. Truly outstanding in every respect. See Booking.com for the pictures.

The Balvraid Lodge perfectly exemplifies how a bed and breakfast should be! I stayed here in July with my mom to celebrate my 21st birthday. It is not within walking distance of Inverness, but we were willing to rent a car and make the drive just to stay here. It was well worth it, even though we were unfamiliar with driving on the left side 😅 We wish we could've stayed here longer! Upon checking in, we were immediately welcomed by Ms. Rachael with some afternoon tea and cake. (She makes the best cakes!) We were also greeted by her lovely dogs, named Margot and Nelly. The property is so vast and has many trails to explore with the cute little dogs that stay by your side 🤗 Be sure to check out the sheep as well! Definitely stay here for a cozy and authentic experience. The room and bathroom were spacious and spotless. It was also nice chatting with the other guests in the evening by the fireplace and in the morning over a homemade breakfast. The breakfasts served were delicious and exceptional! The host's husband makes the haggis and the eggs used are actually from their own chicken coop. You could not go wrong with choosing anything from their well-curated menu. Ms. Rachael is a kind and attentive host. She was always responsive and checking in on the guests. The hard work she puts into running her bed and breakfast is admirable and very much appreciated. Thank you Ma'am for your hospitality and for making our stay the most memorable 😊 You're amazing! Keeping doing what you do! I can wholeheartedly say that this was the best bed and breakfast I have ever stayed at. I would love to bring my partner to the Balvraid Lodge one day. My mother and I will forever cherish and look back on the fond memories made here!

Great peaceful, comfortable and quiet lodge - a real gem. Thank you Rachel and James for being such wonderful hosts to Karen and me. Rachel - your breakfasts are amazing catering for all dietary needs. Really appreciated your insights and advice on places to explore in the area. Without a doubt the best B & B we have stayed, so relaxing and loved sitting in front of the open fire each night. We will be back! Highly recommended. Greg
