About Glenan Lodge

Glenan Lodge is a modest, stone-built lodge in Tomatin, in the Highlands near Inverness, with just seven rooms giving it the feel of a small, personally run house rather than a big hotel. Its scale suits guests who want a quiet base rather than a bustling resort.

Each room comes with its own en-suite bathroom, and the lodge has a restaurant and bar on site, along with breakfast, free WiFi and luggage storage for guests arriving before or after their room is ready. There is free parking on the property, useful given its rural setting.

Tomatin's location makes it a convenient stop for exploring the wider Highlands, with Culloden Battlefield among the points of interest within reach and Carrbridge also nearby. Further pubs, bars and restaurants can be found in the surrounding area for guests who want to venture beyond the lodge's own dining room.

This is a lovely lodge with five guest rooms. It is at the end of a secluded street in a very quiet area, next to a distillery. Lots of bunny rabits roaming the grounds. ;-) The nearby freeway is under construction. This is not a problem, but it will slow your travel times down a bit. The property was recently purchased by an English-American couple. It does not offer breakfast, but the lodge does have a fully equipped kitchen for guests to use, including, refridgerator, microwave and air fryer. This property is about 100 years old, and the rooms refelct this. All the rooms are up stairs and their is no lift, so be ready to carry your lugage upstairs. I talked to one of the new owners. They have big plans for upgrading the property starting in the winter of 2026. Pro tip: drive to the property via the driveway of the distillery next store. Much quicker and convenient.

Tidy, charming and welcoming. Follow signage down the dirt road and you will find the lodge is tucked among the trees and sheep. Last structure on the right. Ample parking across the way. The proprietor welcomed us upon arrival and is beyond hospitable. No detail left unthought of. The front rooms are a perfect place to sit and relax as they accommodate parties big and small. There is a collection of travel books and maps to contemplate your next destination. The kitchen is prepared for a microwave meal or traditional prep. You will find every appliance and serving set necessary. Free standing fridge and a free standing freezer can guard your perishables while you are away sipping whiskey. Can't think of a single negative during our stay. If you desire a sanctuary off the highway, you won't be disappointed.

Definitely stay here if you’re in the area! Kay is a really wonderful, welcoming host, and this is a gorgeous family-run place next to a distillery. Very good if you’re coming from / to Inverness airport. Comfy bed and really tranquil.

The host was extremely kind and helpful, and the place is amazing, clean, and very peaceful. The shared kitchen has everything you need, there’s a super cozy lounge area with a fireplace, and the rooms are comfortable. I would definitely come back again! :D
