About The Ardyne Guest House

The Ardyne Guest House has operated from its Victorian villa on Mount Stuart Road since 1875, and retains original period features alongside more recently refurbished rooms. Superior king-size and twin rooms are all en suite, with several looking out across the bay to Loch Striven and the Kyles of Bute.

The guest house is fully licensed, with dinner available on request, and pets are welcome, making it a flexible option for a range of travellers. A short walk brings guests into central Rothesay, while the house itself stays quiet enough for an easy night's sleep.

It's a solid, traditional choice for guests wanting genuine sea views without the price tag of the island's more boutique guest houses.

My wife and I spent 5 nights at the Ardyne Guesthouse at the beginning of June. It is in a great location overlooking the sea and with views of all the ferry traffic going in and out of Rothesay. Walter is a great host with a fabulous personality and together with his daughter Bea, make a really great team! The room was clean, well equipped and the bed was extra comfortable. Also, the Scottish breakfasts were well cooked and set us up well for each day – thank you Walter! If ever we find ourselves on the Isle of Bute again, we’ll be sure to book accommodation in the Ardyne. It is highly recommended!

Thank you for a wonderful visit! We loved your niche on the Isle. Walter was fantastic and helped us get settled. The room had the most amazing view and breakfast was spectacular! The sitting dining room, for all times of the day, was splendid.

I will most certainly be coming back and staying at the Ardyne on Bute . We were warmly welcomed and shown our room which was absolutely spotless and cosy . The view was stunning . The bed was very comfortable and water piping hot with excellent pressure . The morning breakfast was absolutely delicious . We were allowed to help ourself to cereal , fresh fruit , coffee and toast - the works . We went for the cooked one and everything was cooked to perfection . The owner and his daughter were genuinely the friendliest people. They were always on hand and asked if we needed anything which was only one more toilet roll ! Do not hesitate to book the ardyne . Excellent value and excellent location only 15 min walk into town .
