Argyll and Bute

On the Isle of Bute, a compact West Coast island crossed by the Highland Line, Bruichladdich sits within walking distance of the shore. The landscape here shifts between rolling fertile ground inland and heather moorland to the north, with sandy beaches fringing the coast. Scalpsie Bay, backed by views towards Arran, draws seals in large numbers. The island suits walkers and cyclists drawn to its varied terrain, its population of roe deer and buzzards, or those after quieter exploration of Iron Age forts, standing stones and small chapels.

The house itself is spacious for six people across three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Downstairs holds a living room with Freeview television and DVD player, plus a double bedroom with ensuite shower room. The kitchen opens onto a decked sitting area with garden furniture; it's equipped for proper cooking with gas hob and electric oven, alongside dishwasher and microwave. Upstairs are two more bedrooms—a second double with ensuite, and a twin—plus a main bathroom with bath. A lawned garden is enclosed, with parking for two cars. Wifi, heating, electricity and bed linen are all provided.

Bute hosts an annual jazz festival, highland games and agricultural shows. Mount Stuart mansion, Rothesay Castle, Bute Museum and the gardens at Ascog Hall and Ardencraig are nearby. The island is easily reached by ferry, and no smoking is permitted inside.
