Shieling Holidays Mull

Craignure, Isle of Mull PA65 6AY, UK

Shorefront camping and glamping shielings minutes from the Craignure ferry

About Shieling Holidays Mull

Shieling Holidays occupies a shorefront peninsula just south of Craignure, looking out across the Sound of Mull towards Ben Nevis and the mainland hills. It's one of the island's most established campsites, offering pitches for tents, campervans, caravans and trailer tents alongside distinctive canvas-roofed glamping shielings and a few self-catering cottages. The site sits minutes from the Craignure ferry terminal – ideal for those touring Mull by car – with Duart Castle and the Isle of Mull Railway both within easy reach.

Facilities include electric hook-ups, coin-operated showers, chemical disposal points and complimentary drying tents year-round, a useful touch given the island's changeable weather. Level, grassy pitches suit families, while quieter spots stretch along the shore. Dogs are welcome throughout. Some visitors note the showers can feel a little tired in places, but the sheltered pitches, sea views and ferry-side convenience make it a sensible base for a first visit to Mull, especially if you're splitting your time between camping and day trips around the island.

We had a really lovely stay at this campsite in April and would definitely come back again. The location is fantastic for exploring the island, and it’s incredibly convenient if you’re arriving or leaving by ferry as it’s literally right next to the ferry port—perfect for those travelling a long distance like we did. There are some great little amenities just a couple of minutes’ walk from the site too, including a Spar shop, a lovely little charity shop, and a small café which was really handy. There’s also a fab park nearby which was brilliant for the kids. The facilities on site were excellent—the showers and toilets were spotless every single time I used them, which made a big difference. All in all, a really great place to stay in a super convenient location. We’d certainly stay here again!

One night stop before catching the Oban ferry. Booked the morning before departure and allocated a water front hard standing pitch. Excellent comms via email including arrival instructions. Great view ! £14 pp a night. EHU is £7.50 a night. Had to ask for it to be removed as auto included on my booking request but done almost immediately by email exchange with Lesley. Clean toilets and showers. Grey/black waste. Fresh water on the pitch. Certain worthwhile for a hassle free, washed and clean departure.

This is our first time " glamping" and we were very impressed. Very difficult to fault this place. I have mobility issues so they put us in pod one nearest the drop off area. The one thing I personally would improve is I would have liked to have the car just outside the pod, but the carpark was a very short walk away down some steps which was difficult for me coming back up. One suggestion, I think the name pod doesn't do these units credit. They are bungalows/ cottages of very very high standard and I know the word pod implies camping and your not. We probably won't come back as we have now gone Mull be I recommend these units to anyone

Convenient for the ferry to Oban and central to the islands road network. We were located on their No:2 service pitch which was right on the front viewing the ferry port and the surrounding area! Hired a car for the week too from them can’t recommend them any greater!
