A campsite near Isle of Lismore
About The Lismore Campsite
Tucked onto six acres on ten-mile-long Lismore, this small eco-campsite (just a handful of pitches) is a tranquil base for island exploring. The owners have planted 2,500 native trees en route to 10,000, run everything on solar-heated water, air-source heat pump and photovoltaic power, and even built a natural swimming pool for wild dips with views. Season-dependent organic fruit and veg are yours to pick, bike hire's available, and you can plant a tree using free seedlings.
Ferries bring you across from the mainland—foot passengers or cars both welcome—and once you're here it's a walker's and wildlife-watcher's paradise, with mountains and lochs framing every view. Facilities are simple but thoughtful: showers, wifi, recycling, and a genuinely green ethos. A lovely spot for families, solo adventurers, or anyone craving proper island peace.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Bunkhouse. We started with two nights, but it was so comfortable and peaceful that we decided to stay for a bit longer. The room and the kitchen / living room space had everything we needed and it was so lovely to wake up to the bird song and the beautiful green garden that Mike and Clare have created and very the years. I would highly recommend it for anybody looking to stay in Lismore.

On the boat over to Lismore with our backpacks and tent we spotted a sign for a ceilidh at the village hall that night. We ended up camping at the bunkhouse, enjoying tea with Clare followed by an evening of wonderful music and dancing. Thanks Clare and Mike - you’ve created a real gem of a place.
