Castle Gate

Castle Gate sits in a converted stable block that once served Steephill Castle, now a single ground-floor cottage sleeping two. You enter through a gated cobbled courtyard into a combined living and dining room with a feature fireplace and bay window, then find the double bedroom and bathroom opening off it. The kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, microwave and fridge-freezer for self-catering. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are included; there is parking for one car on site.

The location edges Ventnor Park, where winding paths and lawns are open for wandering. Walk five minutes and you reach the coastal path itself, running for miles past secluded coves and sandy beaches with seaward views. Ventnor's botanical gardens—famous for subtropical plants that thrive in the island's microclimate—are nearby, as is the esplanade with its cafés, ice cream shops and swimming spots. Pubs and restaurants are a short stroll away. The cottage is non-smoking.
