Freshwater Bay sits on the south-west coast of the Isle of Wight, ringed by beaches and walking routes that lead inland towards Tennyson Down. The village itself has shops and cafés within easy reach, while the Dimbola Museum & Galleries is nearby. Old Coastguard Cottage stands at the end of a quiet lane, built in the 1860s as part of a Victorian coastguard station and now converted into a holiday home that keeps its character while adding modern comforts.
The cottage sleeps four across three bedrooms—a double and two singles—with one bathroom and a single enclosed for the car. Downstairs is an open-plan living space with a smart TV and DVD player, and a kitchen fitted with a range cooker, microwave, fridge and freezer; a washing machine is also on hand. Upstairs are the bedrooms. Everything is centrally heated, and wi-fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. There is an enclosed garden with furniture, and the beach is a 150-yard walk away.
The cottage is let as a whole to yourselves and accommodates one pet free of charge. It does not permit smoking. The surrounding bays—Compton, Brook, Alum, Totland and Colwell—are within reach for walks and beachcombing, making this a solid base for a coastal break or a family holiday that mixes seaside time with exploration of the island.
