Herons Nest is a single-bedroom lodge at Everglades Caravan Park, set among fishing lakes in Norfolk countryside near Downham Market. Everything you need for a self-catering stay is provided: the kitchen has an electric oven, hob and microwave; bed linen and towels are supplied; heating, electricity and wifi are covered; and there's parking for two cars on site. A welcome pack is included.

The lodge is built on one level and arranged as an open-plan space with living area, dining zone and kitchen flowing together. The bedroom has a kingsize bed and ensuite shower room with heated towel rail. A conservatory extends the living space and looks out over the grounds. Smart TVs in both the bedroom and living area provide entertainment. Access to course fishing on the lakes is free during your stay, though you'll need to bring your own fishing licence.

The setting suits anyone wanting a quiet rural retreat, whether or not they fish. The lakes and surrounding countryside offer space for walks and wildlife watching. No smoking is permitted in the lodge.

I wanted to go somewhere I had never been before and this area ticked all the boxes. The images on the website promised an idyllic holiday of peace, relaxation and good fishing. The reality was even better. This is a sociable and friendly site. The fishing is not always easy but a good day is achievable. I have met some really lovely people here and the site is beautifully maintained. Bradley is a hard working, helpful and very friendly man who keeps the site in tip top condition. He is very good for advice on the local area and he is instantly likeable. I drove a long way to get here and I have no regrets at all. This is one of the nicest places I have ever visited. I will definitely be back!
