Norfolk Lake House - The Boathouse

Couples after a peaceful getaway, or small families wanting somewhere compact and self-contained, will find what they need at The Boathouse. This single-bedroom lodge sits right on the water's edge within Pentney Lakes, a private development of woodland and freshwater lakes spread across 275 acres. The bedroom has a four-poster king bed; there's also a double sofa bed in the living area if you need space for two extra guests. One shower room serves the property. Everything is on the ground floor, opening onto a private deck where you can sit out and look across the water.

The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with an electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher and washing machine. The open-plan living and dining space has a smart TV and bi-fold doors that open directly onto the deck. Electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included in your stay. Parking for two cars is on site, and pets stay free. Note that the property opens onto an unfenced lake, so you'll need to watch young children closely. The site offers fishing (you'll need your own licence), and other water sports are available locally. There's a welcome pack on arrival, and the surrounding woodland and lakes make for quiet walks and wildlife watching.
