Step straight into an open-plan living space where everything unfolds on one level. A woodburner anchors the sitting area, a separate dining zone flows into a kitchen fitted with electric cooking, and two bedrooms—one double, one with twin singles—sit alongside a shower room. Bed linen, towels, heating and electricity are all covered; there's wood for the burner too. The cottage sleeps four and is yours alone, with parking for two cars right at the door and a garden with seating outside.
Walnut Cottage stands within the Pentney Abbey Estate, a 35-acre grounds centred on 12th-century abbey ruins near Kings Lynn. The location works equally well for a country weekend and for those visiting the area on business—the town centre is roughly 20 minutes away by car. The Norfolk coast lies under half an hour further on, bringing access to Snettisham Marshes, Hunstanton's cliffs, Wells-next-the-Sea, and Heacham's dunes. Inland, Castle Rising, Norwich Castle, Holkham Estate and several other historic properties sit within easy reach. The cottage is no-smoking throughout.

What a beautiful wedding venue, a perfect setting for any happy couple. We attended on the hottest day of the year so far, the staff were so helpful with trying to keep everyone cool. We got married at Pentney Abbey in August 2025 and from the moment we first visited we completely fell in love and knew straight away that it was the venue for us. The setting is absolutely beautiful and it just felt so special from the very beginning. One of the highlights before the wedding was the tasting evening. It was such a wonderful experience to be able to sample the menu and see the venue dressed for a wedding. It really helped us picture how our own day would look and feel and the food was incredible. We were also so lucky to have the most fantastic wedding planner, Katie. She handled the entire process and our wedding day like an absolute professional. Katie was always so quick to reply to every email and request and nothing ever felt like too much trouble. She truly helped make the day feel personal and exactly how we had imagined it. Our wedding day itself was simply amazing and everything we dreamed it would be. From the accommodation, to the set up, the meal and the evening celebration every single part of the day was perfect. The whole team at Pentney Abbey were incredibly professional and not one detail was missed. We received so many lovely comments from our suppliers, guests and family about how beautiful the venue was and how smoothly everything ran. If you are thinking about Pentney Abbey as your wedding venue you will not regret it at all. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such a special day.

Nice unusual place, but very cold, despite the heaters. Poor live video link to watch the wedding in the bar for those who can't climb the steep stairs to the ceremonial room. Hot drinks not available from the bar.

I absolutely loved photographing a wedding at Pentney Abbey. It’s ticks all of the boxes for great images. The blend of old and new creates a really good visual dynamic and guiding guests through these locations as the day progresses keeps it really fun and interesting. The venue has a really stylish feel but still creates a relaxed atmosphere. The coordinators are brill. Give me a shout if you want an unbiased opinion/recommendation of the venue.
