Golcar is a stone-built weaver's village in the Colne Valley, west of Huddersfield, where independent shops, pubs and cafes sit alongside the Colne Valley Museum and marked walking routes. The Peak District is within reach, and Huddersfield town centre lies 4 miles away. Millbarn is a Grade II listed property occupying three storeys of this historic setting, overlooking moorland and hills.
The ground floor holds an open-plan living and dining space with a working kitchen—range, dishwasher, American fridge freezer and other essentials for cooking and entertaining. The first floor contains four bedrooms (three doubles and one single) and a bathroom with shower cubicle. Five more bedrooms and another bathroom with bath are on the second floor. Bed linen and towels come with the booking, along with wifi, heating and electricity. The whole property is yours alone, and parking for three cars is on site.
One dog can stay at no extra cost. No smoking is permitted. Nearby villages like Slaithwaite and Marsden are 15 minutes' drive away, and there is a pub within a mile. The property suits large families and groups looking for a base that keeps you close to moorland walks and the quieter parts of the Pennines.

We stayed at Millbarn during September 2021 as a family group of 10 and a dog. The house was fantastic. Spotlessly clean with a large lounge and kitchen/dining area. Plenty of thoughtful little touches with a few toys and board games thrown in as well. The location is perfect with a short walk into Golcar with a number of good pubs and takeaways and plenty of days out within a short drive. Hosts are friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

Millbarn is such a lovely holiday home and it was equipped with everything we needed to make it a great Family holiday. The owners Mark and Sara were fabulous, very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. Myself and my family will definitely be returning in the future as Millbarn is probably the best holiday home we have stayed in.

We had a great time at Millbarn there was 11 in our party and we had plenty of room. The house had everything wee needed and the owners were very friendly and on hand to help with any queries we had. Golcar is scenic and there is a nice walk along the canal but we did have to travel to find things to do.

We recently stayed for a week in the summer at Millbarn. The house was absolutely stunning, there was more than enough room for our large family. The house was very clean and there were plenty of games and toys for the kids to play with. Sara and Mark were very helpful and gave us plenty of ideas for days out in the surrounding area. I would definitely give 5* and recommend to any large party! Thank you for a brilliant week!
