Box Tree Escapes - The Lune

Photo: Box Tree Escapes

A single-storey modern lodge built for groups and families, Box Tree Escapes - The Lune sits on its own in Lancaster with space for ten guests across four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The ground-floor design means no stairs, and the open-plan living area flows from kitchen through dining to a sitting room where French doors open onto the patio. Three of the bedrooms have kingsize beds; one holds two singles. Two come with ensuite showers, and there's a family bathroom with both bath and shower.

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, while the living space centres on a large TV and leather seating that faces those garden views. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and heating are all included. Outside, a patio with garden furniture overlooks a back garden where a firepit sits, and a six-person hot tub is yours alone. You can park four cars on site. No smoking inside, please.

Just Play Padel is nearby if you fancy that, and the property sits within reach of Lancaster town and the wider Lune Valley. A children's play area is shared with other properties on the grounds.

A disappointing stay. Heating is still a problem, we have intermittent heating from 16oc to 25oc. (based on a review from 2 years ago). We have no hot water to be able to shower. The property is beginning to look rundown. Doorframes screwed back on, plaster board fixings in view. Ian (manager) calling in a hour, still not here after an hour and 30. Fittings on the hot tub broken. Temp varies between 37oC and 40 oC. Window frame not fixed into the wall. Fingers able to go behind plug sockets. Location on a field with a total of 4 lodges and a small park. Nothing else, views limited.

Stayed here at the end of July for 10 nights. Great lodge with a lovely hot tub and attached play area. The lodge itself is spacious and well equipped with bbq and fire pit and large screen tv. Ian is also very helpful if you need anything and it is well positioned for exploring the lake district, Yorkshire dales and Lancaster.

Perfect getaway for 5 days in beautiful surroundings!! Thank you for a wonderful stay, your lodges are like home away from home, wonderfully decorated and loved the little touches; the hot tubs were amazing too!! It felt like a private retreat ♥️ Highly recommend a stay here especially if you have children too; the site has a coded gate from the main road, lovely little park infront of the lodges and lodging neighbours were very friendly !!

Just returned from a weeks holiday at Box Tree. We had 2 lodges and couldn’t speak more highly of them. Kids loved the hot tubs, park and morning feeding of the horses. All in all it was a fantastic break and Ian couldn’t have been more helpful. The location is pretty rural, but great pub within a 15 minute walk and the nearest town (2.5 miles) had everything you could want.
